Sec 1 Level Camp
All new Sec 1 students stay in school for the first week of school. Games are carried out for students to bond with each other as a class and as a school. They will also learn more about the school values, culture and programmes that will help them settle down in school as soon as possible. The finale will be a camp fire in school where all Sec 1 students will celebrate their uniqueness and unity as a cohort around the fire in the starry night.

Sec 1 CCA Orientation
All CCA groups will come up with performances, exhibits, skits and many other items to impress upon the Sec 1 newbies how 'cool' their CCAs are in Henderson. The Sec 1s will tour around the classrooms, which will be colourfully decorated with CCA t-shirts, trophies, badges, tents, camouflage nets and many other things by their seniors. Through interactions with their seniors, the Sec 1s will also get to know more about the CCA groups before they make their informed choices.

Sec 1 CCA Allocation (Jan)
CCA is compulsory in all schools in Singapore. All students will have to have one CCA, which is given to him/her by the school. Students need to find out as much as they can about all the CCA groups in school before they make their choices. However, the school look at the student's potential for success when students are assigned to the CCA groups. While student's interest is considered, it is not the main deciding factor in the CCA allocation.

Sec 2 Swimming (Feb)
All Sec 2 students are expected to learn how to swim in PE lessons (10 weeks) during term 1 and 2. The 10 weeks of lessons are conducted in curriculum time, which indicates the significance the school has placed on students' knowing how to swim. Given the fact that Singapore is surrounded by water and there are enrichment programmes (sea sports) for the students in school, knowing how to swim is particularly crucial in Henderson. For those who already know how to swim, they will be coached to improve their swimming technique and stamina so that they will acquire certificates of a higher level.

CCA 3D2N Camp in school (Mar)
UG camp is a yearly event for all UG members in Henderson. UG is a significant part in Henderson as more than 60% of the school population are member of the seven uniformed groups in school. This is the time when the UG members will have combined training, peer teaching and learning, inter-UG competitions and many other activities that bond all the UG members together. As for other CCAs, they will also have camps at other time in the year.

NAPFA Test (Apr)
NAPFA is a national physical test for all medically fit students in school. Only students with MCs / long term illnesses are excused from this event. Students are strongly encouraged and often reminded to train themselves up during their free time outside of school if they have not cleared all the stations in NAPFA. The school will also require students to take the make-up tests / training whenever it is deemed fit. Students are expected to stay back after school for extra training upon request made by the teachers.

School Health Screening (May)
All Sec 1s  and most of the students from Sec 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be medically screened by the nurses from the Health Promotion Board's School Health Division. Students are to bring their health booklets and have a series of tests done with the nurses. The students' medical status will then be given to the school for their reference.

Sec 3 CCA Leaders Camp @ OBS (Jun)
Student Leadership is a key pillar in Henderson and we aim to provide students with as much training as possible to groom them to be leaders in school and in life. Each year, 32 of the CCA leaders are sent to Outward Bound Singapore for a rigorous 5D4N training in Pulau Ubin. They will be exposed to numerous outdoor activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, map reading, trekking, tent pitching and others. As they will be joining students from other schools, this provide the Henderson students with many chances to learn how to adapt to the new environment and new counterparts, and then to work with others to achieve the common goals.

Sports Week (Post Exam - Mid Year and End of Year)
To promote mass participation in sports, Henderson has started this new initiative in 2008, where the old model of 'Sports Day - Track and Field' is re-examined and modified. In the past, when we had our Sports Day, only part of the school population was involved in the running while the majority were involved in cheering. In order to give as many students as possible the platforms to attempt and do their best, Henderson has come up with a new model - Sports Week. As classes of the same level have PE lessons at the same time slot, they will take part in the various inter-class sports competitions during curriculum time, after the examinations. Games such as football, basketball, floorball, frisbee, scoop ball, modified rugby are all well received by the students. While they sweat it out during the competition, they surely had a lot of fun too.

Sec 3 CCA Leaders Camp (July)
In 2005-2009, each year, Sec 2 CCA leaders were sent for a 3D2N leadership training camp at the National Community Leadership Institute along South Buona VIsta Road. The training in this camp equipped our students with skills to understand self and others, to initiate and manage projects, and to lead others to achieve common goals. Many games and activities were conducted, after which discussion, reflection and presentation will be done to help the students to consolidate what they have learnt. When they return to school, the CCA leaders will take up a leadership role and lead the juniors in organizing a Community Involvement Project for each CCA group. So far, Henderson has worked with APEX Rehabilitation Centre, Henderson Senior Citizens' Home, SPCA, Gan Eng Seng Primary School, Singapore General Hospital, etc.

From 2010, Henderson has moved forward and will take up the in house training program for all Sec 3 CCA leaders, when the teaching and learning outcomes will be much more aligned with the strategic goals of the school.

South Zone Inter-School Basketball "C" Division
Henderson is the convenor for this event, in which about 40 schools from the South Zone take part at CCA Branch each year. Basketball is our niche sports CCA. Henderson Basketball is known for their tough training, which is meant to train students to persevere and do their best possible. As a result of that, our school teams are well recognized and respected in the basketball circle.

ACES Day (Aug)
ACES stands for "All Children Exercise Simultaneously". In the past, our ACES Day activities included mass workout and aerobics. Then, it transformed into a mass walk outside the school around the neighbourhood. Nowadays, ACES Day is incorporated into the CCA Friday when all students and staff are actively engaged in CCA activities (e.g. Mass Run, Dance, Sing, Games and others) not only for 30 mins but for the whole morning. This active involvement of our students has brought ACES Day to a higher level indeed.

Sports Education (Games)
Inter-Class, Inter-CCA, Inter-school
We believe that every one of the students in school can have fun taking part in sports competitions. All students should be given as many chances to enjoy sports in a optimally competitive context. Sports Education (Games) is to promote sports in school, while helping our kids to believe in themselves and others, cultivating values like teamwork and determination, and strengthening their bodies and minds.

Sec 2 Dragon Boating
As the Sec 2 students should have learnt in term 1 and 2 how to swim and are more confident in water, all Sec 2 students will be exposed to dragon boating as their first sea sports enrichment program at the end of the year. This aims to help students to experience the fun of sea sports, as well as to build class spirits when they work together as a class in water. Inter-class dragon boating competition will also be held to test which class can row faster and last longer as a class!

Sec 2 Kayaking
Kayaking is the second sea sports enrichment program for all Sec 2 students in Henderson. After they conquer the sea with their classmates in dragon boating, we hope that our students will have more courage in charting the direction of 'their own boat'.

With teamwork, the kayak is not difficult to carry.
All smiles before setting off.

Sec 2 Inline Skating
As we wish to equip students with sports skills that help them to lead a sporty lifestyle (i.e. sports for life), inline skating is one of the key Sports Education Program in Henderson. All Sec 2 students will be learning how to blade confidently in the 3-hour workshop during the post exam (EOY) period.

Sec 1 Nature Walk
All Sec 1s will be walking from school to Henderson Waves and back in the morning. This is an exercise for all students where they will cultivate the joy of brisk walking together as a class. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about the nature at Hort Park, where they will take a break and have interaction time.

Sec 1 Bowling
All Sec 1s undergo a 3-hour course on bowling at SAFRA Mount Faber, which is about a 10 mins walk from school. The purpose of this course is to help students develop a sport skill which can be ingrained in them for life. We do hope that the students will continue to lead a active life style by participating in recreational bowling during their free time.

Sec 1 Rock Climbing
All Sec 1s will be given the opportunity to gain some rock climbing experience at SAFRA Yishun. This programme aims to help students to overcome their fear of height. Meanwhile, it is also an experiential learning where they learn that the higher they aim, the harder they have to work for, both in the classroom and in life.
