Cross Country Meet 2015

The Henderson Secondary Annual Cross Country Meet was held at the serene gardens of Jurong Central Park where approximately seven hundred students and staff converged on the 17th of April to partake in the event. The new venue offers a scenic run alongside part of the Jurong River and has a relatively flat terrain for most of the runners to run at a fast pace. Student Leaders such as the Student Council and the Sport Leaders play crucial roles in ensuring a smooth event from the setting up of the banners they painted to the assistance provided to the teachers in charge of timekeeping. The event started with the flagging off of the Teachers’ Race by Mr Simen, our Principal and the various levels soon followed, spurred on by the thoughts of students overtaking their teachers along the route.

The event aimed to create a platform for all students and staff to engage in a healthy activity while also enhancing the bonds and friendship amongst each other. In addition, the top 10 runners from the Boys’ and Girls’ categories also contributed to the Class of the Year Award. It was a heartening sight to see Hendersonians giving their all in the pursuit of excellence while also cheering their friends to persevere and overcome the physical limitations bounded by their own mindset. We look forward to next year as we come together as one to celebrate the Hendersonian Spirit at our next Meet!
