2015 Roundup

Mens sana in corpore sano (A sound mind in a sound body).

In line with the vision of providing a holistic education for all Hendersonians as a part of a values-driven education, the PE/CCA department ensures that there are a variety of programmes organised for students each year. Along with weekly PE lessons, these events aim to inculcate in our students the ideas of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect.

The PE department adopts a blended Games Concept Approach to ensure that Hendersonians are taught at least one sport in the three main categories of games; invasion, net/barrier, and striking and fielding. The games taught to the lower secondary classes involve developing gross motor skills, while those taught to the upper secondary classes require fine motor skills control. On top of this, students learn life skills through programmes such as the SwimSafer Programme, Annual Cross Country Meet and are exposed to a variety of sports via the Sports Education Programme.

On the CCA front, Henderson Secondary School has continued to provide a quality CCA experience for its students by aligning with the school’s Holistic Development Framework with their CCA Programmes. In line with Skills Future and developing the 21st Core Competencies, all CCAs aim to provide a balanced and relevant 30-week programme for their students to facilitate the latters’ cognitive and physical growth to prepare them for the future.
